How Jamaican Charities Are Assisting People

It is good to help others. There are people in the world who are suffering. Not everyone is living a comfortable life, as is the case in the West. Some people do not have access to the basics. The most basic human needs are food, water, shelter, and clothing. A human being can live for a number of weeks without food but only a few days without water. In the developing world, the situation is bleak. Jamaican charities are playing vital roles in helping the underprivileged members of the Jamaican society.

Some charities are helping in eradicating poverty in Jamaica. Poverty is not permanent. It is possible for a poor person to become rich if he gets the right empowerment. There are charity organizations that deal with the issue of financial empowering people. Some poor people have great business ideas but they lack the funds to implement those ideas. Micro finance loans have transformed many lives.

Poverty is not only affecting Jamaica. One does not have to travel to Africa or Asia so that to be able to see the true face of poverty. Even in the United States, one can see many poor people. There are many homeless Americans who live in the streets and have totally no source of income for sustaining themselves.

Jamaica has many poor people. Poverty is increasing because of lack of employment opportunities. Many people are graduating from school and they cannot find employment. It is usually said that poverty operates in a vicious circle in that one is born poor and dies poor. Poverty can also pass from one generation to another. Some charities deal with the issue of poverty.

Illiteracy is a bad thing. It is a sad thing that even in the 21st century the problem of illiteracy has not been totally eradicated from the world. It is disheartening that some adults who do not know how to read and write. There are Jamaican charity organizations that deal with the problem of illiteracy. Education is good.

Some charities are building schools in Jamaica. Developing countries require more schools. Primary and secondary education should be free so that to eliminate illiteracy from a country. Some organizations are helping in the area of textbooks. Children need to have high quality reading materials so that they can be able to acquire knowledge. Actually, knowledge is power.

The importance of health must never be underestimated at any moment in time. An unhealthy person will not be productive. When many people in a country are sick, the GDP of the nation will plummet. In the developing world, there are very few hospitals and doctors. A charity can help in the area of increasing medical facilities in a particular country.

It is good to be a giver. By giving, one will become more blessed. The world needs more givers because there are many people who are suffering. One can help in cash or in kind. One must not donate to the first charity that he comes across. There is the need to find out if a charity is reputable before making a donation.
