In our modern society, recycling waste water is important. Hence, many countries are using the waste water purification system. This is the process whereby contaminants from water that is used and wasted is collected and processed in the name of recycling. There are many ways to go about it which includes using chemicals, doing it physically and doing it organically.

Treatment may take place close to its source referred to as decentralization/onsite system. It is kept in septic tanks, in bio filters aerobic treatment system. Alternatively the liquids is collected and transported by network pipes and in pump stations and later to municipal treatment plant commonly referred to as centralized system.

Sewage water will come from residential places, institutions, commercial and industrial establishments. For household, the liquids from toilets, baths, showers, kitchen and sinks all draining to the sewers. In most places, the waste will include that from the industries and commerce. In the developed worlds, the separation and draining of waste water into black water and grey water really is becoming common. The water usually is later used for watering plants or recycled for flushing toilets.

It include run off of rain water. Sewerage systems are able to handle the water as a system is in place known as a combined sewer system. While rain water is going through roofs and on grounds, it does carry contaminants that include soil, organic matter, heavy metals, lubricants and animal waste. Industrial effluent receives pre-treatment at the factories themselves to reduce the pollutant load before being allowed to the sewer. This process is called industrial waste treatment. The reason for carrying out the process is because industrial waste may contain pollutants that cannot be removed by conventional sewage treatment. Flow of industrial waste may upset the population in cases of biological treatment.

Main purpose of treating this is production of an effluent doing less harm when allowed to the environment preventing pollution. Three stages take place for water to be fully treated; the primary treatment, the secondary treatment and finally we have tertiary treatment; these are just the basic, there is a lot that goes in, in making sure their water is treated.

Primary treatment consists of temporarily holding the sewage at a particular location where the heavy solids settle at the bottom while lighter solids float. The floating materials are removed and the liquid may be discharged or subjected to secondary treatment.

The secondary treatment is the removal of dissolved waste by use of suspended biological matters put in place. It is usually performed by use of indigenous, which are water borne micro organisms within a managed environment. As of the final stage known as the tertiary treatment, treated water is disinfected chemically and ready to be discharged into streams or to water plants.

The process of water purification system has helped keep our society less polluted. The recycled water is helping in farming and the crops produced are fit for human consumption. Therefore the process ensures that
